These are the people with all the glory and, in all fairness, perform a sizable chunk of the work in creating OpenBrainstem software.

[edit] The Rank
There are three kinds of coders at OpenBrainstem. You could think of them kind of like military ranks. They are Programmers, Developers and Software Engineers.
[edit] Programmer
This is the entry level "rank" for coding OpenBrainstem Members. The only requirement for becoming an OpenBrainstem Programmer is the desire to listen, learn and grow in a language that we use for one of our projects.
Although one does not have to already know a programming language nor anything about programmer to join OpenBrainstem, but those who do will get more interesting assignments more quickly.
For those new to programming, experienced OpenBrainstem Software Engineers continually update the New Programmer Reading List, which provides pointers to great resources you can use to get started.
[edit] Developer
Coding OpenBrainstem Members who show that they have skills and know their language(s), tools & frameworks of choice. They have also been a part of OpenBrainstem long enough to demonstrate that they know, understand and adhere to all of our coding standards. They also know how to apply each of the techniques listed in the OpenBrainstem Coding Guides.
Developers can be assigned as Project Lead for a project.
Experienced coders who "pass" a coding challenge can start out their OpenBrainstem membership at the Developer Level.
[edit] Software Engineer
This is the highest "rank" of coding OpenBrainstem Member.
OpenBrainstem Developers can be "promoted" to Software Engineer only by Peregrine, for now. Later, when there are a few more at this level, I will consider some additional methodologies for making such promotion offers/decisions.

OK. This is the highest "rank" on OpenBrainstem, but only because I'm the one who runs all the servers and resources and who gets the final say, if it needs to be done. I am Peregrine.

This is the list of all OpenBrainstem Members who are coders. They may be currently working on one or more OpenBrainstem projects.
